Inclusive Fitness Initiative
The Inclusive Fitness Initiative (IFI) is a national programme that supports leisure and fitness facilities to become more inclusive and accessible for disabled and non-disabled people.
The initiative aims to provide better access to fitness facilities and has been working closely with sites in Lincolnshire to promote:
- Accessible facilities
- Inclusive fitness equipment
- Staff with disability training
- Inclusive marketing and policies
There are currently 15 IFI accredited facilities in Lincolnshire, and over 800 people with a disability have joined IFI facilities since the beginning of the programme.

”The equipment is easy to use and accessible”
Lindsey Fuller has a physical impairment. She joined the gym at the Meridian Leisure Centre after it becmae an accredited Inclusive Fitness Initiative facility.
“I use the equipment in the fitness site three times per week. The equipment is easy to use and accessible. I use most of the equipment but esecially like the rower, the bike and the power plate.
If I need assistance, the staff are very helpful and friendly. I really feel that I am making progress in my efforts to drop dress sizes!”
