Where are the best places in Saxilby to see the torch relay on Thursday 28th June?

The Olympic Torch Convoy will arrive in Saxilby at approximately 8.40am.

We recommend getting to your viewing point by around 8am as road closures will come in to effect shortly after this time.

The route for the relay is:

  • Travel along Mill Lane
  • Turn left onto Church Road
  • Continue onto the High Street
  • Continue onto Bridge Street
  • Continue onto Queensway
  • Turn right back onto Mill Lane

The torch enters the village in convoy mode by turning onto Mill Lane from the A57.  This then changes to Torch bearer mode at the 40mph sign on Mill Lane.  It is in Torch Bearer mode around the village before changing back to convoy mode at the Queensway/Mill Lane junction.  It then leaves the village via the A57.

Businesses

Will my staff be able to arrive at their usual time?

Road closures for Saxilby will be in place from 8.15am until 9.15am.  We would encourage staff to arrive early to celebrate the WLDC Saxilby Olympic Torch Relay or arrange to start later.

Am I going to have barriers next to my business?

Crowd control barriers may be used at various points along the routes, but we will try not to locate these in front of your business access.  An increase footfall through Saxilby may also lead to access restrictions for your business.

What time will the roads around my business reopen?

We will reopen the roads around your business as soon as possible.   We hope the majority will reopen within one hour of them closing.

Our staff want to get involved in some way – what can we do?

We would support your staff to line the Torch Relay Route.

I want to dress my business for the Olympic Torch Relay – what type of decorations can I use?

We appreciate your business welcoming the Torch with decorations.  Please ensure any dressing does not include Olympic insignia for brand protection purposes.

What sort of street decorations will already be put up around my business?

Depending on the area, the West Lindsey District Council has worked with Saxilby Parish Council to supply bunting and flags to ensure Saxilby are ready to welcome the Torch.  This will make sure Saxilby looks bright and colourful for the celebrations.

Will my deliveries be affected by the Olympic Torch Relay?

Depending on the location of your business, deliveries may be affected. We would recommend scheduling deliveries on Thursday 28th June before 8am or after 9.30am.
